I give it a five out of five stars because I felt the book was pretty thorough which is what you should expect from this type of non-fiction.

I am more interested in renting a house in New Zealand and in that sense the information was limited. It's not the author's fault, but there were no other books I could have ordered. Lesson learnt.
I like this book. It contains certain details.The table of contents should be revised to contain more details.The title can be revised to contain the concept of apartment rentals, and the contents related to this can be more.
The title is misleading. This book includes much more than instructions on buying a house.Roughly the first half of the book tells the reader all about New Zealand, its geography and climate, its history, and its people. The next section approaches the life styles of the population, and then we are taken, town by town, through each area, again its geography, climate, history, and lifestyles. As we travel more into the book, we get more detailed information of what it takes to get a home and move to the area. We learn about the red tape involved to settle in each area and how to avoid unpleasant surprises.I was surprised at how interesting and readable this book is, for the most part. Other parts are a slog, as the information becomes encyclopedic. But then, this is a reference book, after all, with all the latest information you need. Still it seems odd that so much of the culture and history of New Zealand would be included in a book of this subject. I take it as an appeal to come to New Zealand and make your home there, either as a vacation home or a permanent residence. The details about the country and its beauty give us a compelling reason to explore these pages and take them to heart.
