I'll be honest that I didn't know of this book till subscribing to the Youtube channel maintained by the authors. I really enjoy the way the stories are told and a brief explanation, in today terms, on the meanings of these myths.I'd love to see more editions done by these folks and even other source mythologies such as Norse, American Indian, Chinese, Japanese etc.

This was a really unique take on the retelling of the ild Greek myths. It's been adapted to be similar to a modern story, with interesting character points of views.I was really hooked by this unusual style. The fact that it was so well written and interesting really sucked me in.It also has some great illustrations peppered throughout that were quite good. They added a lot to my overall enjoyment of this gem.If you like Greek Mythology, I'd strongly recommend this book!

I like most probably heard about this book from the YouTuber Mythology and Fiction Explained (great channel btw) and ever since he announced this book I've wanted to get and now I have. It came in perfect condition, the book was exactly as advertised so your not getting stiffed, the art on the cover and in the novel is excellent, and lastly it's worth the price. Over all it's a 5 star book and a must read for any Mythology lover and of course watch the YouTube channel Mythology and Fiction Explained.

This is a book I could not put down once I started. It does an amazing job of telling the Greek mythology stories we all know and love, but turning them in to actual books we would find today. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I really enjoyed this book! It was definitely refreshing and intriguing to read these tales brought to life.I definitely recommend!I loved the artwork generously included throughout the book. Very nice!

Could have used a little more time behind the editing desk. The first tale felt awkwardly paced and suffered from strange word choices.

This is one of the better humor books, though it is on the slim side. I think it is aimed at the older audience (which I am a member of).

Pretty lame collection of jokes that old guys who think they are funny might repeat over and over. I can't speak for the entire book. After reading about 12 different jokes on 12 different pages without even cracking a smile, I hit the return button. I'm baffled by the positive reviews. Some people are very easily amused.

I had read excerpts from this book years ago and decided to order the book. It's a good read, exciting, some have suggested TOO exciting, ie exaggerated, but nice to have if you like antique books, old travel books, Pacific islands, etc. If you're really into this subject the book can be read fairly quickly.

I enjoyed it very much. It was written so long ago, 1922, things were so different in those times. Would like to have the other six of his books avaliable for my Kindle.

I partially read Osa Johnson's account, "I Married Adventure" which covered the same New Hebrides adventure her husband, Martin, writes about in "Cannibal-Land". What a difference in writing styles. Martin is a man of few words with one single mission--to prove that cannibalism was being practiced in the South Seas around 1919. Indeed it was, and budding photographer Martin captures those moments and more, which he shares in books, film footage and lectures throughout the world. His escapades are exciting--I only wish Martin had elaborated more. His simple writing style is very matter-of-fact, whereas Osa's overdramatic rendition included many unimportant details (usually about herself swooning or fainting). Something in-between would have made the perfect book.Regardless, these two certainly complemented each other. Martin was obsessed with getting savage/cannibal film footage, often putting everyones' lives in grave danger. Osa took it all in stride--one gets the sense (from her book)that she secretly yearned for a more domestic or stable lifestyle. Instead, Osa followed Martin everywhere and made the best of many hair-raising situations. Their writings accurately describe foreign cultures of a different era when white superiority dominated, providing interesting first-hand history lessons.

This is just a bad printing of screen grabs from the net. The photos are missing and two of the pages are missing text. I have since found out that this book can be downloaded in pdf form, for free with pictures, and better text, from the Open Library : [...]Amazon should not be selling these "books"There seem to be quite a few around and not always recognisable.

The reader of Executive Orders, in particular, is treated to a graphic description of the effects of the Ebola virus on the human body, from the initial flu-like symptoms to the vomiting, delirium, gross distention of organs, disintegration of vascular-system tissue, and eventual massive internal bleeding that ends in death. An equally explicit recipe follows for collecting the virus from a decedent's infected tissue and preserving it alive for travel and dissemination. As always, Clancy uses this book, too, as a forum for stating his beliefs. Principal among them is that the United States--a decent nation confronted from time to time by states with immoral men at the helm--requires a vigorous defense, but may soon lack enough military power for the job. The book was far too long -- despite that there was a lot going on, it just plodded slowly through everything. It seemed to take 200 pages of angst after the previous book's ending before the plot of this one actually spooled up and started to go anywhere; and then, eventually, it got to feeling as though we were paying for the privilege of hearing Clancy's political rants against obvious straw men. By the end we only get resolution to some of the plot threads that we've been drawn along for all those hundreds of pages while others (cement truck, India) just abruptly ended with a token page or two of minimal justification -- which would have been okay if we hadn't spent so very, very long having them built up in the first place. Didn't feel nearly as tight and polished as, say, Hunt for Red October which I feel was Clancy more at the top of his game.As others have mentioned, either the Kindle edition came from an early version of the book before it ever saw an editor, or there's some truly horrible OCR butchery going on -- chunks missing from sentences, punctuation AWOL, capital letter H's rendered as two capital letter I's... this kind of amateurishness is exactly why I usually play it safe reading established authors instead of $0.49 bargain basement self-publish titles from an author whose claim to fame is "I have almost 100 five-star ratings on goodreads!" Not a product the publisher should be at all proud of charging full retail price for.

This book has a lot of interesting discussion of what it takes to make our country work and, in particular, what our President has to deal with. The setup for addressing those questions is Jack Ryan suddenly becoming President after the capitol - and most of our national elected leaders - are killed. To find out how that happened, read the preceding book in the series, Debt of Honor. In fact, I have greatly enjoyed reading the series, of which this book is the ninth, from the beginning, Without Remorse. Although I do recommend reading the series in sequence, this book can easily stand alone on its own merits, as allusions to earlier events add color, but remembering them is not necessary for enjoyment of this one. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the books in Tom Clancy's "Jack Ryan universe". I might mention along those lines that not all of the books in the "universe" star Jack Ryan. Several star John Clark, who is more of an intelligence operator (sometimes a spy, sometimes a paramilitary, sometimes a Presidential bodyguard), while Jack Ryan is more of an intelligence analyst. Jack does get into a lot of action, though, so don't be misled. Some of the later books in the series, say from seventeen on, were even written by other authors. I haven't read them yet, so I can't comment on their quality.

Tom Clancy's works are pure brilliance. This one is a favorite of mine for many reasons. Its depth, scope, bone-chilling accuracy, and insight deep into the realities of the Executive branch of world governments is both fascinating and extremely enlightening. If one enjoys being thoroughly entertained while viewing a part of the world that few ever come to understand, this is definitely the book for them. With masterfully adept strokes, Clancy covers everything from realpolitik to the many shades of terrorism, the pecking order of law enforcement, plague warfare, traditional war and warmaking tools, the subtle art of diplomacy, the truth about the humanity of our leaders, and much more. Simply put, there will never be another Tom Clancy. I am thankful he wrote here, because governments with less freedom would have definitely worked to silence him for his cunning grasp of politics alone. The world should mourn the loss of his knowledge and brilliant voice, for I certainly do.

Mr. Clancy's writing reminds me of the guy who was known as a "plate-spinner" on the " Ed Sullivan Show." (You younger folk will have to ask your grandparents) Just as the Spinner started off slowly, then added more and more plates, balancing them on sticks he placed on his chin, forehead, etc. so too does Clancy. Here, he wove a tale combining elements, one after another, then adding more, balancing everything with ease. Writing such an adventure as multifaceted and entertaining cannot be easy. Doing so with such intricate knowledge of our military, how it functions and the wide variety of machinery it uses has to be daunting. Reading nearly 1400 pages certainly was! Well worth the time and effort, "Executive Orders" will reward you handsomely.

I have been reading Tom Clancy of late. I am reading the novels in the order they were written. I am a fan. but, this novel was about 400-500 pages too long. There was just too much repetition about the inner thoughts of the Ayatollah. Also, Ryan spent fat too much time whining about being President. OK, we know you don't want the job...you hate the job...but you don't have to keep reminding us in every chapter!Cut down it would have been a 5 star book.

A very good read and a reminder of how good a storyteller Tom Clancy was. Great tech stuff too, although I got a little lost in some of the military abbreviations and acronyms. MainProblem was the horrible typesetting on the Kindle edition. It’s been a while since I have seen one this bad - the punctuation was totally jacked up from start to finish, especially where there were hyphens and semicolons. Very annoying.A pretty long book too and by halfway into it I didn’t want to put it down!

I have read just about all of Clancy's directly-authored novels, and most of his collaborations, had somehow missed this one. It was typical Clancy with excellent technical detail and multiple, parallel plots. This is a looong book - 1,300+ pages. An argument could be made that some judicious editing might trim a few hundred pages from it without damage, particularly from the detailed sections on biological warfare. But for Clancy fans, more is better, so maybe this observation is moot. The technology is dated, as this was written in 1996, but is not too distracting. I would recommend not being in a hurry when you read this - just kick back and enjoy.
